How we calculate

Every rate on this site comes from the platform's own published fee page. This page lists those sources, the date we last checked each one, and exactly how the calculators turn the rates into a number.

Sources and dates

We re-check every source at least once a quarter and whenever a platform announces a change. Known upcoming change: eBay's currency conversion fee rises from 3% to 3.25% on October 14, 2026.

How the numbers are calculated

eBay

Total amount of sale = item price + shipping charged + sales tax (tax = rate × (price + shipping)). The final value fee is applied to that total using the category rule: tiered categories charge the first rate up to the threshold and the second rate on the rest; handbags, jewelry and bullion charge one rate on the whole sale depending on the threshold. The per-order fee is $0.30 when the total is $10 or less, otherwise $0.40, and is skipped for athletic shoes priced at $150 or more. Optional charges (international 1.65%, Promoted Listings, Below Standard 6%) are percentages of the same total. Top Rated Plus takes 10% off the percentage part of the final value fee only; this rule comes from eBay's Top Rated seller program, which we could not load on our last check, so confirm it in your Seller Hub.

PayPal

Fee = amount × percentage + fixed fee, where the percentage includes +1.50% for international payments. The amount to request is (target + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − percentage), rounded up to the next cent.

Etsy

Listing $0.20 + 6.5% × (price + shipping) + 3% × (price + shipping + tax) + $0.25. Offsite Ads are 15% or 12% of price + shipping, capped at $100. Currency conversion is 2.5% of price + shipping.

Depop, Grailed, Mercari, Poshmark, Whatnot

Depop: 3.3% × (price + shipping + tax) + $0.45, plus 12% boosting on price (+ shipping without a Depop label). Grailed: commission 9% of the sale price from $120, otherwise 6% with a $1.99 minimum, where the sale price includes shipping unless you use a Grailed label; processing 3.49% + $0.49 (4.99% international, $0.99 fixed without Stripe) applied to price + shipping, because Grailed does not state the base. Mercari: 10% × (price + buyer-paid shipping); Instant Pay $3. Poshmark: $2.95 under $15, otherwise 20% of the final price. Whatnot: tier and category rate × item price (0% on the part above $1,500 in qualifying categories) + 2.9% × (price + shipping + tax) + $0.30.

Cash App and Venmo

Cash App Business 2.6% + $0.15, Tap to Pay 3%, personal free; instant transfer shown at the 2.5% maximum (minimum $1, maximum $75) because Cash App only shows the exact rate at transfer. Venmo goods and services 2.99%, business profile 1.9% + $0.10, Tap to Pay 2.29% + $0.09; instant transfer 1.75% (minimum $0.25, maximum $25).

Profit and target price

Payout = price + shipping charged − fees. Profit = payout − item cost − postage you paid. In target mode, the calculator searches for the lowest price, to the cent, whose profit meets your target, so rounding never leaves you a cent short.

Each fee is rounded to the cent. Platforms can round differently on individual fee lines, so your statement may differ by a cent or two.

• eBay Store subscription rates, eBay Motors vehicle fees and category promotions.
• PayPal custom pricing, point-of-sale and charity rates.
• Etsy sellers outside the US and the regulatory operating fee some countries pay.
