What the commission is charged on
Grailed bases the commission on the sale price. If you ship with your own label, the sale price is the listing price plus the shipping you charged the buyer. If you use a Grailed label, it is the listing price only. That is why the third example costs $1.35 less than the second: the $15 shipping is no longer in the commission base.
The rate itself depends on that sale price. From $120 up it is 9%. Below $120, sales from May 20, 2026 pay 6% with a minimum of $1.99, which makes small sales noticeably cheaper than the old flat 9%.
Payment processing
Grailed's processor charges 3.49% + $0.49 on US payments and 4.99% + $0.49 on international ones, as long as your Stripe payouts are set up. If Stripe is available in your country but you have not connected it, the fixed part rises to $0.99. Grailed does not say whether processing is calculated on shipping as well, so this calculator applies it to the item price plus the shipping the buyer paid, which is the more cautious estimate.
How to work out Grailed fees by hand
Start with the sale price: the listing price, plus the shipping you charged if you used your own label. If that is $120 or more, the commission is 9% of it. If it is under $120, it is 6%, but never less than $1.99. Then add processing: 3.49% of the payment plus $0.49 for a US buyer with Stripe set up. Subtract both from what the buyer paid to get your payout.
For a $250 jacket with $15 shipping on your own label: the sale price is $265, the commission is $23.85, and processing is $9.25 + $0.49 = $9.74. You receive $231.41 before your postage cost.
Common mistakes
- Using the old flat 9% on cheap items. Sales under $120 from May 20, 2026 pay 6% with a $1.99 floor.
- Not connecting Stripe. The fixed processing fee doubles from $0.49 to $0.99 without it.
- Charging high shipping on your own label. It raises the commission base; a Grailed label avoids that.
Tips for selling on Grailed
- Use Grailed labels to keep shipping out of the commission base.
- Connect Stripe before your first sale to avoid the higher fixed fee.
- Watch the $120 line. A price just under $120 pays 6%; at $120 it pays 9%, so $119 can leave you more than $122.
- Price international sales separately; processing is 1.5 points higher.
